Marie Fortini, PhD YACEP 1000 Hour Cert. R-CYAMT RM
With over 20 years of yoga teaching experience, Marie is dedicated to helping people unaccustomed to exercising regularly in becoming more comfortable working with their bodies. Marie focuses on stress relief and in assisting clients with creating their own wellness practice. A serious ankle injury combined with repetitive stress injuries in both arms, prompted Marie in becoming a yoga teacher and adapting her classes for people of all abilities. Marie attended The Omega and Nosara Institutes' 200-hour Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training™ program (now Self Awakening Yoga) with Amba Stapleton and Don Stapleton, PhD (Brahmanand). She is also certified in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Fit™ for Seniors and Silver Sneakers ® Yoga. Marie has taken advanced training in Yoga for Addiction at Kripalu. In 2024, Marie completed Kripalu’s 1000 certification curriculum with a focus on yoga for Seniors and is a Let Your Yoga Dance® for Special Populations instructor. She also completed Lee Albert, NMT’s Integrated Positional Therapy for Chronic Pain Relief Levels I & II workshops. She is a Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Leader Guide and certified, Get Fit Where You Sit, Lakshmi Voelker Chair yoga teacher. In addition to being a Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra (DSYN) Guide, Marie had the privilege of studying with Anodea Judith, PhD and is a certified Sacred Centers Chakra teacher. Marie, a Registered Christian Yoga Association Master Teacher, completed her RYT 300 at Living Waters Yoga, a Christian Yoga Teacher Training program. She includes yoga in her prayer practice, adapting yoga flows with familiar prayers, such as "The Lord's Prayer," for chair and floor formats. As a Reiki Master (Holy Fire III® and Karuna Reiki® certifications with William Lee Rand), Marie often combines Reiki with Restorative Yoga sessions. Marie is available for group and individual classes and sessions.
